Icons, icons, icons (Robin Hobb, Elisabeth, Lucifer, and assorted others)

The lovely [info]spaghettitoes has organised this icon challenge for all the shiny new fandoms flying around the Igloo. I picked Robin Hobb because apparently I love to make my life difficult, lol.

Christine, I TRIED to match your categories but there were some that just really don't work for this fandom (and also my brain fails at this specific organisation thing), so this was more of a "make icons first, approximate categories later, skip the rest" approach, I'm afraid. But I made you priest icons and went cosplaying for you, so you can't tut at me ;)

PLEASE NOTE: Obviously since Robin Hobb's works are not exactly picture books, I had to find material elsewhere. I have two primary sources: 1) cover artist John Howe's paintings; 2) a selection of fantastic fanart from DeviantArt that their creators have given me their generous permission to use. If you take any of these icons, PLEASE credit these artists for their work. The relevant info plus links to DeviantArt galleries (with lots of more gorgeous stuff) is beneath the respective icon panels. I think crediting John Howe is probably optional since he already has ALL the fame and money ;) (here is his portfolio, though) but please do credit the fanart creators where indicated.

Robin Hobb's books (Farseers, Liveship Traders, Tawny Man and Rain Wilds Chronicles trilogies, plus a couple of Windsingers ones)
Elisabeth the musical
Elisabeth the historical figure
And some miscellaneous things.

Okay! Categories!

We'll all ignore the fact that I am legitimately terrible at iconing, okay? Awesome. )

In which I whine unattractively about yet another cancelled awesome show that I discovered too late

Bear with me while I take five to rant about the poor endorsement choices of the entertainment industry. Hey, entertainment industry? WHAT, WHAT, WHAT ARE YOU DOING. LOOK AT YOUR LIFE. LOOK AT YOUR CHOICES.

I just finished watching The Middleman. All measly 12 episodes of it. I tried to savour it, I tried to stretch it out, I kept telling myself I had to be prepared for the inevitable cruel, cancellation-based, far too premature ending.

You guys, I WAS NOT PREPARED. Why do I live in a world where Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Bridezillas are A Thing while shows like this get cancelled?? Can I go live in the parallel universe where Firefly is in its 12th season, The Middleman is just about to start season 5, any show with a Mary Sue heroine never even makes it to pre-production, and crime procedurals are the fringe genre with a mere handful of options? Please? I don't care if it's an otherwise post-apocalyptic and evil-adjacent parallel universe, as long as it Makes Good Art.

Seriously, what the fuck. This show is so good. It's funny, it's cracky, it's occasionally endearing and earnest, it makes fun of itself, it's full of geeky charm. It's smart and choc-a-bloc with goofball dialogue and witty pop culture references. It's like Firefly's crackier, artschool-attending, smartass little sister. I know I should be happy there ARE the 12 eps at least, but IT'S NOT ENOUGH AND I WANT MORE.

Ok, I'm better now. Well, not really. I guess I'll just go watch that live reading the cast did of the unproduced 13th ep at Comic Con (go cast! you rock!), then start buying comics and fume a lot about why I have to watch live readings of unproduced episodes and buy comics instead of watching the Big Damn Show On DVD.

Thanks for the rec, [info]lilithilien. I'll be whining at you a lot next time I see you. PREPARE.

Ahahahaha Twitter whut

Okay, as promised, I am finally caving and joining the inescapable ranks of Twitter. Not sure how I'll ever cope with a 140 character limit, but erm... follow me so I don't look all lame and newbie-ish? lol.

Tom McRae/Lovely Evil Show=OTP

Someone needs to confiscate all my Tom McRae albums. I'm overdosing on imaginary woobie musical montages.

*hugs a pillow*

But I’ll keep playing Atlas baby
Though my shoulders ache
And I’ll spin this old world around
Trying to see your face

But still I can’t find you
And I can’t find me
And I don’t know where
I’m supposed to be

Angeschissen, Süße.

Mmkay. Done 1400-ish words on my fic and smacked Deniz a bunch, with Vanessa's kind help. It'll have to do. Even though I'm not anywhere near my actual plot yet. *headdesks* Still, Deniz always needs smacking, so that's progress, surely?

Also had a lovely videochat with [info]startoucher and [info]adlectorem (including their adorable fluffy bunny), subtitled stuff, rolled my eyes a bunch at the average level of intelligence on YouTube, faffed about loads on the internet and otherwise wasted time.

Now for this work business. How is it 8 pm and I still have a full day's work ahead of me, how, how?? Augh.
