Icons, icons, icons (Robin Hobb, Elisabeth, Lucifer, and assorted others)

The lovely [info]spaghettitoes has organised this icon challenge for all the shiny new fandoms flying around the Igloo. I picked Robin Hobb because apparently I love to make my life difficult, lol.

Christine, I TRIED to match your categories but there were some that just really don't work for this fandom (and also my brain fails at this specific organisation thing), so this was more of a "make icons first, approximate categories later, skip the rest" approach, I'm afraid. But I made you priest icons and went cosplaying for you, so you can't tut at me ;)

PLEASE NOTE: Obviously since Robin Hobb's works are not exactly picture books, I had to find material elsewhere. I have two primary sources: 1) cover artist John Howe's paintings; 2) a selection of fantastic fanart from DeviantArt that their creators have given me their generous permission to use. If you take any of these icons, PLEASE credit these artists for their work. The relevant info plus links to DeviantArt galleries (with lots of more gorgeous stuff) is beneath the respective icon panels. I think crediting John Howe is probably optional since he already has ALL the fame and money ;) (here is his portfolio, though) but please do credit the fanart creators where indicated.

Robin Hobb's books (Farseers, Liveship Traders, Tawny Man and Rain Wilds Chronicles trilogies, plus a couple of Windsingers ones)
Elisabeth the musical
Elisabeth the historical figure
And some miscellaneous things.

Okay! Categories!

We'll all ignore the fact that I am legitimately terrible at iconing, okay? Awesome. )

Mallory & Irvine: A Historical Mountaineering RPS Post (What? Yes! Oh God.)

I have been meaning to post more but could not really think of what, as I'm on a strictly limited allowance of Crazy Things My Cats Did posts. I have, however, recently rediscovered my love of reading (something I didn't have too much time for the past few years), so I've been devouring books like a Death Eater eating, uhm, death (or possibly treacle).

One of the things I have been reading about is climbing. I used to climb and used to love it but I've kind of grown too old and lazy to do it, and also, mountains are fucking terrifying. I mean, they're entirely awesome in every way but personally I'm done crawling all over them with a big neon-green sign reading "COME AND KILL ME" around my neck, you know?

Instead, I read about other climbers, which is great fun, very educational and very much less lethal.

So without further ado, let me present to you two mountaineering legends of the early 20th century and their Great Clandestine Gay Love Affair (As Totally Fabricated By Me):

I am probably going to hell for this (picspam-heavy) )

Lothlorien made this look so effortless

Today we went to Adrenalin Forest. If you're wondering whether it's as insane as it looks and sounds, the answer is it's MUCH, MUCH CRAZIER.

[info]lilithilien and [info]alsha were completely awesome in agreeing to be dragged up trees and forced to climb around between them on tiny wobbly wire bridges, swinging ropes, flying foxes, moving logs or a skateboard (yes, there was one part where you moved from one tree to the next on a SKATEBOARD, lol). There are five different levels of increasing suicidal insanity difficulty and height - Lil finished Level 3 and Alsha finished Level 4 and they totally rocked it! I went on to do Level 5 as well (25 metres off the ground, bridges and modes of transport increasingly sadistic, swaying trees) and did manage to finish, although I was compleeeetely knackered by the time I came back down.

V. disappointed that we didn't all get certificates of awesomeness out of this, because we so deserved them, lol.

Dear body: I apologise for the things I put you through today. Lots of couchtime and wine in your immediate future, kk?

Fic: [info]sdk made me do this

Well, she didn't, really. But it's always handy to have someone to blame, and she did dig out the Diana/Tim/TREE crack.

Okay, somebody demanded the girlslash-on-grave fic in the monster comment thread that my random venting post turned into the other week, and now I can't find where and who BECAUSE THERE ARE 70 COMMENTS BECAUSE YOU PEOPLE ARE NUTS.

So I'll just chuck it up here since it was never posted in public FOR VERY GOOD REASON, lol. I wrote this in a YouTube PM sometime last year whilst high on caffeine, so yeah. I'm just gonna blame one of my clones for it.

It's finally happened.

In a mad scramble to get a gargantuan pile of work of completely unmanageable proportions out of the way before I leave for Boston THIS THURSDAY HAHAHAHAHAHAH, I have finally officially lost my mind and/or found the solution to all my problems:

I was just dashing past my office to get more coffee from the kitchen when I glimpsed, through my open office door, with perfect clarity and without the slightest shred of confusion, but only with a mild sense of all being right and proper with the world, none other than myself sitting at my desk, tapping away at the keyboard. I wore an outfit I had worn earlier in the day and was thus slightly out of synch with my current, pyjama-clad, coffee-dashing self, but not by much. A few hours, perhaps. It lasted for perhaps two seconds, by which time I had dashed past the door. Another second later I realised that seeing oneself sitting in one's office while not actually currently there is perhaps not the most commonplace of sightings, and I dashed back to check, but by then office-bound me was gone.

Wow, what is this place? It looks vaguely familiar. It has like, icons and stuff! Curious. *pokes*

Well, I am caught up with my f-list. Kinda. Maybe. My inbox is a different matter entirely. EMAILS? WHAT ARE THOSE? And if work ever remembers that I exist, I'm in trouble, lol. WHERE IS MY RICH AUNT WHO WANTS TO BEQUEATHE HER SUBSTANTIAL FORTUNE TO ME, WHERE, WHERE?

It's getting into autumn here, but like last year it's mostly warm and the leaves are just starting to turn and be all gorgeous. Some hiking definitely needs to happen this autumn, preferably when the lovely [info]feruche comes to visit in less than a month! Squeeeeeeeee! I CAN'T WAIT. Last weekend [info]alsha and i went on a wee roadtrip to have a picnic/frisbee-playing/reading afternoon out in the hills. It was unfortunately cut short by interfering gnats, but fun anyway! I keep taking it for granted what an awesome place I live in.

Then last night we went out and discovered a super-cute pub that we definitely need to frequent more. Their berry cider was out of this world, and we played pink scrabble. Much fun was had!

I was reminded the other day that HBP is coming out soon. Dude. That movie has slipped so far to the back of my mind. I mean, I'm still gonna go see it, but I'm not anywhere near as excited as I would have been back in November. I maintain that moving it back that far was an epically stupid decision.

In fandom news, MY LIFE IS MADNESS.

*puts behind cut to spare poor f-list that has had it up to here with hearing about German soaps* )

That's it for now, I think. Apologies for being sporadic and/or one-track-minded. One of these years I'll talk about something else, I'm sure. SURE OF IT.

I hope everyone's having a great weekend! *smooches f-list*

The Longest Day

Oh wow, this week was utter, blissful madness. The lovely [info]sdk and I essentially ignored the rest of the world and went to live in Eskimo Kiss Land around the clock. We basically stayed up four days in a row (slept two hours out of each, hahahaa), CAPSLOCKED at each other 24/7 and uploaded a stupendously huge shitload of vids. We've got less than 30 left to go on the old timeline now and then we can join it all up and zoom ahead on the new one! It was so much fun I can't even begin to tell you.

In fact, our week was pretty much this:

Yes. That's exactly what it was like. Gay sparkly insane fantasy land = home. Muahahahaha.

Among other things, we got up one vid that I'm particularly proud of, because it showcases the awesomeness of Ulrike Röseberg and André Dietz (contains spoilers for current eps):

(the screenshot & caption happen to be pretty damn perfect too!)

Sometimes I am just floored about the massive amounts of fun everyone on that set seems to have. I mean, I'm sure there are plenty of sucky days too, but you can see that they mostly get on swimmingly and have such a great rapport, and it really adds extra depth to the show. Granted, I don't find the show currently terribly interesting, but they so completely lucked out with their cast. I'll even watch shite plots just to see some of these people act. I love my very messy fandom.

Shelly and I also worked on a bunch of other awesome things and went completely crazy. And I'm not talking normal people crazy. I'm talking utterly batshit insane. Small children would have been whisked to safety, so I guess it's a good thing there weren't any around. It was glorious.

Also, because we have so much time on our hands (and because I very rudely stole all the subtitling), Shelly randomly went and learned video editing, AHAHAHAHAH. YES. Like, in a day. HER MAD SKILLZ TERRIFY AND DELIGHT ME.

And so, within a day, she's made this glorious thing:

It's a belated birthday present for Lil and a companion vid to her beautiful ficlet Wahr, which is still my favourite Roman character study ever and so gorgeous it hurts. And Shelly's vid captures that mood so beautifully... plus, SO MUCH PRETTY SKATING, OMG! (I found some of it, wheeee!)

So yes, that was my week, lol. Things have been NUTS and I am so out of the loop on everything else. I just continue to be amazed at how well the three of us work together and how hugely rewarding and fun this project is. It's fabulous to see people get invested, and we get a bunch of lovely appreciative comments and messages (in addition to a whole tonne of YT's usual ilk of "HAI THERE, I HAVE NO BRAIN", lol) that are a joy to read, and we treasure that...but the thing is that we're doing it first and foremost because we enjoy it so damn much. I love that to a truly silly degree.

I've slept normal hours this weekend, and my body does not like it. It's all confused and groggy and wants to go back to its nice pattern of 2-4 hours. One of these days I will eliminate the necessity of sleep entirely, I swear it!

I also haven't had time to watch the show this week, so I just raced through the four newest eps today. They were largely boring and there's no way I'm doing in-depth recaps, but I'll probably throw up a quick summary or something. And I need to work on my fic, OMG.

Barring that, with my nonsensical picspam. You will all COWER.

Oh god, it's official, I have lost my mind. Not that I was ever that much in possession of it anyway, but whatevs.

Did I mention this? I don't think I have:

(God, I just want to smack his face off his face SO HARD!)

Voting is open until Friday, and I will spam you with cracky banners until then and wheedle at you to go vote. It doesn't matter if you don't even read this stuff. Just go vote anyway! *g* (and you don't have to vote for me, either. Pick whoever's name is crackiest or what have you.)

Where was I? Right, mind-losing! Totally gone off the deep end. with spam of all kinds )

Have some cracky comment fic!

Ahahaha, oh god. [info]graspthethorn just reminded me that She Knows What I Did Last Night, so I'm putting this here for completion's sake, BUT I AM NOT PROUD OF IT IN ANY WAY.

Title: Swish, Swish
Author: [info]aldiara
Fandom/Characters: Alles Was Zählt, see warnings for pairing.
Word Count: 460 words
Rating: PG
Summary: Sometimes your demons come back to haunt you.
Warnings: (Very loosely) based on spoiler speculation. VERY UNLIKELY SPOILER SPECULATION, mind you, but still. Highlight for pairing: Roman/.....Bulle (yes, I know) (there's probably absolutely no need for the secrecy, but better safe than sorry.)
Disclaimer: If I owned these characters... this would still not happen, actually.
A/N: Written in about 10 minutes as comment fic for [info]graspthethorn, who is insane and SHIPS CRAZY SHIT, so this is unbeta'd and, uhm, very unnecessary.

Fic: In This Home On Ice, Chapter One: Face-Off (Deniz/Roman)

Soooo, [info]lilithilien and I may have been sneaky and played around with a few ideas and inadvertently started a collaborative WIP (obviously this is because we are bored with our very non-busy, leisurely lives and have copious amounts of free time and OMG-are-we-insane??). Ahem, anyway. The AWZ fandom's first English WIP, woohoooo!

Title: In This Home On Ice – Chapter One: Face-Off
Authors: [info]aldiara and [info]lilithilien
Fandom/Characters: Alles Was Zählt, Deniz/Roman
Word Count: 10K words
Rating: NC-17
Summary: “I'm curious: is a professional blow job really that much better than what I used to get for free?”
Disclaimer: Sadly we don't own these characters; we just like watching them fight.
A/N: While this story picks up Deniz’s rentboy plot somewhere after episode 565, it goes AU from there (a.k.a. as far as we are concerned, Stella does not and will never exist). Lilith pirouettes; Aldi swings hockey sticks.
